you’ve told me this before
you’ve told me this before
you’ve told me this before
you’ve told me this before
you’ve told me this before

you tell me a story
& it reminds me of one too
one I’ve told before
except the laser is shining
a different light
so it doesn’t quite occur to me
& what if the frame of your story
brings up something new?
ten years ago
this recollection seen
through a cut crystal
the image, refracted
this time the colors
richocheting off the wall
what if it brings us something new?

I knew that’s what you were going to say
I knew that’s what you were going to say
I knew that’s what you were going to say
I knew that’s what you were going to say
I knew that’s what you told me before
I knew that’s what you told me before
I knew that’s what you told me before
